We love to look after families and it is quickly becoming one of our biggest markets as we cater for family rooms up to 6 and 7 with a double bed plus single and bunk beds with private bathrooms. With a healthy continental breakfast each morning and a full self catering kitchen at your disposal and a Coffee Shop with light snacks, packed lunches and pizza at the ready. Living onsite with our two young girls ourselves here are some of our favorite things to do..
Just down from the Cliffs of Moher, is Moher Hill farm which is a great petting zoo and kids play area both indoor and out.
There is a small beach at Doolin pier, enough to make a sand castle and a small pool craved out of the rock. Locals who fancy a dip usually do so at the old Doolin Pier and primarily in the evening.
There is a large sandy beaches at nearby Fanore to the North and Lahinch to the South with activities such as surfing lessons and kayaking available (15 mins drive), there is also a stunning white sand beach on Inis Oirr the smallest and nearest Aran Island to Doolin and great for a day out. But don’t forget the sun block especially on dull days as its the sea breeze the burns quickly around here.
There is a fantastic natural links Doolin Pitch and Putt a 10 minute walk from the Doolin Hostel and with stunning views overlooking the Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands and is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.
Take a day trip to the Aran Islands and rent bikes, with no traffic its a great way to see any of the Aran Islands. We recommend Inis Oirr the smallest and closest Island with a 25 minute crossing it has the shortest ferry crossing.
Sea Kayaking with North Clare Sea Kayaking is a great day out with older kids, or go Horse riding along the top of the Burren, overlooking Doolin at Mountain View Horse riding where Peter and his team will look after you well.
Surf lessons with Ben and Lahinch Adventures is a great mornings work out and check out there Summer and holiday camps as they are filled with great adventures for kids of all ages.
When its raining:
In nearby Lahinch you have Seaworld with a large indoor public pool, Lahinch adventures caters for indoor climbing and archery and is great fun for all the family, especially the bouldering wall where kids as young as four and forty four can challenge each other, watch out Dad you may have meet your match!
Doolin Cave is a fantastic show cave with the largest stalactite in Europe, 8 stories below and they have a fantastic nature trail, but why not get down and dirty with Backwest Adventures and explore the underworld of the Burren, and for Hobbit fans Pol na gCollum. It really is a family trip you will be talking about for weeks after guaranteed.
We recommend a change of clothes and to bring your kids wellies. Kid and Adult overalls, adult wellies and all safety equipment are supplied and Tim and Terry are brilliant with kids.
Bring the wellies and the rain gear and get out jump in loads of muddy puddles on many of the great walking trails, and when you come back there is a drying room, outdoor wash area for boots, wetsuits and the like. And call into the our Cliff Coast Coffee cafe for Hot Chocolate and freshly baked Chocolate Chip Cookies.
The nearest cinema is in Ennis a 40 minute drive away.

The Michael Cusack center in Carren for budding GAA fans, Caherconnell fort for Sheep Dog demonstrations.
Aillwee Cave in Ballyvaughan has a fantastic Falconry with shows at 12pm 2pm and 4pm in the Summer and 12pm and 3pm in the off season. Also call in between 10am and 12pm and are usually making their tasty Burren Gold Cheese
In Kinvara check out the fairy forest at the Burren Nature Santuary which is a great way to explore and learn about the unique landscape, its flora and fauna.
Go exploring the Burren and visit places such as the High Crosses in Kilfenora, or the ruins of Crocomore Abbey or pick up a little gift at the Burren Perfumery and explore there wonderful perfume garden.
Where to eat:
All the pubs in Doolin are kid friendly also are the restaurants. In our little cafe we do pizza, bagels and light snacks and a 5 minute drive away is the Stone Cutter restaurant which is totally geared towards kids with healthy options, “Skids for Kidz” has a playground and with fresh home cooking favourites it will please all round.
Linalla Icecream on the Flaggy shore is a must stop when touring around the Burren, and for the sweet tooth a quick stroll down the street from the hostel is the Doolin Chocolate Shop.
