Midway on the Wild Atlantic Way
Doolin is a small coastal village that has been inhabited for thousands of years. With placenames dating back to the first tribes of Ireland such as Toomullin. From Court Cairns and other Megalithic tombs, Stone Axe Factories, Medieval Castles and Monastic Church Ruins. Doolin is full of Celtic history and local character.
Doolin is most famous for its daily Traditional Irish Music
#Trad365 is heard nightly in its lively local pubs of O’Connors, Fitz’s, McGanns and McDermmots. Showcasing some of the best local talent every night of the year. But what sets Doolin apart from other popular destinations are the local family businesses who pride themselves on providing a genuine Irish welcome, professional services with top quality offerings, while maintaining the local relaxed country charm. You won’t find any chain hotels, restaurants, bright lights or large shops here.
Doolin is surrounded by World Class Attractions
The Aran Islands, Doolin Cave, and the Burren and Cliffs of Moher UNESCO Geopark – there is an abundance of activities such as rock climbing, surfing, sea kayaking, mountain biking, horse riding, and hiking to name but a few.
The end of January welcomes the Doolin Writers’ Weekend, where short stories are the order of the day. Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival
That’s right, we have our own local matchmaking festival! In September, head for Lisdoonvarna, our neighbour town, for the month-long matchmaking festival.
But a word to the wise – Doolin may be small, but we have a big character… don’t make the mistake of many and stay for just a night or a day trip, but also don’t be surprised if you never want to leave!
